Buzz Words, the twice monthly online magazine for those in the children’s book industry, is proud to announce its inaugural short story prize for adults writing for children. Stories should be no more than 1,000 words and be for children aged 8 to 11 years. Finalist judge is Jackie French OAM with a first prize of $1,000 and second $500. Deadline is 31 December 2018. FAWV – JIM HAMILTON AWARD.

This is to advise that the Jim Hamilton Award for an unpublished novel of more than 30,000 words is open and closes on 30 November. The award is sponsored by the Fellowship of Australian Writers Vic with a first prize of one thousand dollars.
