I am a multi genre author, and write mainly novels and novellas. Over the past few years I have delved into short stories, with a smattering of poetry. My writing encompass contemporary and historical romance, time slip, fantasy, and science fiction.
I started writing when I was fifteen, and have never stopped. When I am not writing, I am either researching for a writing project or extending my writing education.
My writing has appeared in four anthologies (Writing on the Wall, and Can You Believe it by Arts Alliance of Pine Rivers Inc, Future Vision and The Evil Inside Us by 1231 Publishing), The Writers Grapevine, and I self published two novels.
This year I started to present workshops to writing groups using my experiences and knowledge as a writer to assist other writers on their journey.
Our 2020 Annual General Meeting, to be held at the Brisbane Square Library, will be the first meeting for 2020 and will mark the FAWQ move to the Brisbane Square Library for all general meetings. A short walk from Central Station and close to parking in King George car park.
All are welcome, members and potential members, as we move into a very exciting period for FAWQ.
2020 will see us build toward our centenary year in 2021, with plans throughout 2020/21 for festivals, events and membership growth throughout the state, and the establishment of FAWQ as an organisation providing resources for writer of all levels, children included, as well as writers groups, to help hone the writers craft.
Mark the day in you calendar and come along. Make 2020 the year you took that positive writing step.
The Fellowship of Australian Writers Queensland (FAWQ) Invites all interested people to an online meeting on Saturday 2nd May at 2pm on Zoom with Dr. Judy Gregory discussing writing in these troubled times. On her website https://judygregorywriter.com.au/ Judy has this to say about the process of writing:
“I love to think about words, talk about words, and arrange words in interesting ways. I love to ‘worry my words’ until they’re doing the work I want them to do. And I love to work with others to craft words into clear messages.”
The clear messages we need today come from our forced time of reflection. We have been forced to slow down now, and as we reflect on our circumstances, we can no longer hide behind words that do not tell the truth. As writers I believe we express the truth. Past FAWQ President, Poet and Journalist, James Devaney called writers the “torch-bearers.”
In these dark times of exclusion and isolation, we need that light of truth more than ever. Join us on Saturday 2nd May and share with the FAWQ and special guest Dr. Judy Gregory how you can be motivated to write, keep writing and write well when it all seems too difficult.
You will need to register at the link below and download Zoom onto your PC, Laptop, Tablet or Smartphone to join us for an invigorating and uplifting afternoon connecting with other writers. You are invited to a Zoom meeting: “FAWQ Open Meeting with Dr. Judy Gregory.”
